From "Second Childhood" (1936)

Alfalfa doesn't seem to like Grandma's sing-along rendition of "Oh Susanna" in this popular episode about the gang's transformation of a grouchy old lady into a roller-skating party animal.

(Alfalfa would have been 77 years and 235 days old today)

Message to Alfalfa's fans

Excerpts from our exclusive interviews

Welcome!...

...to 4alfalfa.com. This site was created especially to co-incide with the 75th Anniversary of Alfalfa's birth on August 7, 1927. An extensive compendium of this remarkable performer's career is long overdue, and we hope this Internet Appreciation will help fill that void. We will be focusing extensively on "the Alfalfa that most people don't know". Over the weeks and months to come, we hope to build an extensive, reliable repository of information on Alfalfa's off-screen life in order to gain some until-now unknown insights into this amazing talent. If any of our visitors has such information (family members, friends, professional associates), please contact us.

Click on any of the images at right to start your journey through 4alfalfa.com (note that some sections will be following soon). A good introduction might be An Alfalfa Appreciation, an illustrated essay celebrating Alfalfa's unique appeal. Or you could jump directly to our Episode Commentary, which provides exclusive 4alfalfa.com commentary of each of the 34 Little Rascals episodes in which Alfalfa appeared during the Hal Roach era. Do his singing performances form your fondest memories of Alfalfa? Then you'd probably be interested in Alfalfa's Greatest Hits, a song-by-song look at the tunes made "famous" by everybody's favorite crooner (with apologies to Bing...)

In large part due to his death in 1959 at the age of 31, Alfalfa's life has in recent years been the subject of widespread urban mythology and misconceptions. One of the biggest inaccuracies concerning Alfalfa is that he couldn't get any acting jobs as an adult. It may surprise even faithful Little Rascals fans that Alfalfa appeared in over 50 films and TV shows outside of the Rascals series, most of these as a grownup. We take an extensive look at these little-known performances in Alfalfaddendum.

Regardless of your favorite section, we hope that 4alfalfa.com is a place you feel comfortable visiting again and again... to celebrate and re-live the memories that this amazing talent has given generations of fans for nearly three-quarters of a century.

Enjoy!
